Media See-Saw - Enigin View
Do you not just love the media - they swing from one opinion to another and then they are so often tainted by political angles.
Climate change and becoming energy efficient is a case in point, you will see papers and TV pick up the story and promote sensible energy use and environmental solutions - the next day they will run with the anti-climate change lobby and start calling people tree-huggers and alarmists.
It seems that many media organisations have an environmental journalist who promotes environmental issues while they have another journo, often the business reporter, who takes the opposite view - hence they can swing either way!
TV reports can be even worse, they generally support climate change and energy saving actions but with 24/7 news coverage we find reporters trying to make more of something than it deserves. A report live from a reporter is added to 15 minutes later when they return to him for an update, nothing else has happened but he has to embellish the story as he needs something to say - bizarre.
As always, read between the lines and work out for yourself what is actually going on - not always the easiest thing to do. Add to the reading between the lines by looking at what is happening in your own neighbourhood, has the weather changed?
Do not get caught out by the term global warming - there maybe more snow and colder winters but that is the result of the change in the climate, which is why the term climate change is more accurate.
So - do not automatically believe what you read in the paper - there is often an agenda behind the report, same for the telly, be careful out there people.
